As we read Ephesians 2:8-10 we see the patter and layout of being saved. God gifts us and expects us to bless others based on the incredible grace He gave. Life, our resources, time, money, etc. are blessings from God to be used to provide for needs, bless others, and make a difference.
Life as stewardship
Originally economics was about how you utilize the resources that you have. Given the classical detention the Bible says more about economics than heaven or hell. This is profound as life is a stewardship of the resources and opportunities placed before us. We choose how we act and respond to all that life throws at us. Given the Gospel, our intention and hope should be to do good.
Plan for what is important
The important things to us we plan for. Just ask someone what they’d like for their retirement and you’ll see some sort of plan in place. In a time when spontaneity is at a premium, it’s amazing that most incredible youtube moments are well executed plans. Our times, resources, and money need a plan to spend out in life.
Think kinetic not potential
I remember in science class the discussion between kinetic energy and potential. In high school we often heard the “you have the potential to…” statements. Potential energy we learned was stored up. Kinetic energy is action. We need to act. We can use our resources, time, and money to accomplish what God has us here on Earth for.
