As we read Joseph’s words in Genesis 50:20 we see a deeply wounded and hurt person engage and realize what was going on. Jospeh had every right to be bitter, seek vengeance, avoid conflict, bring destruction, pile on guilt, ridicule, and lambast is family that hurt him. He didn’t.
Don’t rob people of goodness
When we chose to not engage. When we choose to fight dirty instead of fight clean we rob people of goodness. We focus on the evil of the actions instead of the good God wants to bring out of the situation. For sure this was NOT easy for Joseph. Often he had to leave the room to deal with his emotions. Many would suffer if Joseph chose to not fight clean.
Feel the pain, seek the peace
Engaging a situation by fighting clean is hard. It hurts. It is not easy. Every fiber in your body may say no, just write them off. The other side of working through conflict, of fighting clean is peace. We don’t see the good in the struggle, we see the good when it’s over. There is hope at the other end. There are are things we can do. Yes it is hard, but you can do it.
Here is more that can be said, but read Genesis 5:20 again on mediate on it. Don’t rob yourself or others of goodness. Hang in there and see God’s good plan for you work itself out.
